About us

Let me explain.

I'm Adrian. I lived in San Diego, then moved to Hoboken, and I wanted to keep the love and stoke of the water.

The New York area is lucky to have ocean swell within reach, but let's face it, getting to the shore is more than half the battle. I needed another outlook to quench my thirst for swell.

Lucky for me, the Hoboken Cove Community Boathouse, Ke Aloha Outrigger and Resilience Paddle Adventures were already established pillars of the paddling community here.

I built this site hoping it sparks curiosity. I love to learn and to see how things work, so I want to share the science of it: how the tide, the wind and passing boats make waves on the Hudson. At a minimum, I hope it makes you look at the river a little differently.

The club

Hoboken Surf Club is for anyone who wants to share in the stoke.

Anyone can be a member. You do not need to surf to be in the club. Joining is free: follow @hobokensurfclub on Instagram.

If you want to get on the water, please do it with the groups above and learn the river first. Start with the river itself.
